Congregation Shaarey Shamoyim
(Built circa 1860 [89 Rivington St.] and used as a church, synagogue, and church
and then as the Rumanische Shul (synagogue) in 1902 for the first Roumanian
American Congregation; it was demolished in 2006, except for the architectural remnant in photo.
It was also the religious home to numerous famous and successful American Jews from the LES.)
